For over two centuries, the Teatro Donizetti has been more than a performance venue or a landmark in lower Bergamo: it is part of the city’s identity, a place shaped by shared history. A story waiting to be told—and to be experienced from within. Introducing “The Donizetti”: a journey through the history and spaces of the newly restored theatre, and through the many worlds that come together within it. The tour includes access to the historic Foyer, the auditorium, the Ridotto Gavazzeni, the boxes, and the elegant reception rooms. At its heart is the figure of Gaetano Donizetti and the story behind the naming of the city’s most important theatre. The theatre’s history is also woven from the lives of those behind the scenes and on stage— singers, musicians, stagehands, technicians, hairdressers, costume makers, and many others. The experience encourages not only listening, but careful observation, with a focus on the beauty of its decorations and interiors. Particular attention is given to the recent restoration and key innovations, offering insight into the theatre as a living, ever-evolving place. More than a venue for performances, the Donizetti remains what it has always been—from its boxes to the Ridotto: a place of connection and encounter. A physical journey, certainly— but also an emotional one, because theatre itself is emotion. date 20 June 2026 | 16:00 20 June 2026 | 17:00 20 June 2026 | 18:00 Location Teatro Donizetti Ticket from
