Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze will play Eleonora in the new production of Donizetti Opera’s Il furioso nell’isola di S. Domingo, replacing the previously announced Mariangela Sicilia.

Nino Machaidze thus makes her debut at the festival dedicated to the Bergamo composer in the role of Eleonora. Born in Tbilisi, she is now one of the most brilliant sopranos with an established international career that has seen her perform on the most prestigious stages, such as the Metropolitan in New York, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Staatsoper in Berlin, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Opéra National de Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Los Angeles Opera and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
