Boys and girls from primary and lower secondary schools are always welcome at the Teatro Donizetti.
This year, they will be treated to an interactive opera dedicated to mad love, an adaptation of Donizetti’s Il furioso nell’isola di S. Domingo by our own Manuel Renga, entitled Il furioso Gaetano nell’isola di S. Domingo, Ovvero le mirabolanti memorie d’un musicista visionario (The Furious Gaetano on the Island of St. Domingo, or the Amazing Memoirs of a Visionary Musician) and performances with puppets by Daniele Cortesi, Tano di Lammermoor and Gaetano Gioppino e l’elisir d’amore (Tano di Lammermoor and Gaetano Gioppino and the Elixir of Love).
A new addition will be Piccolo signor rumore (The Little Mister Noise), a concert-game with musical crossroads for the little ones, with a workshop at school after the show, so as not to reveal anything before the magic of the concert.
And then there are the instruments of the Orchestra del Mare, made by inmates of the Opera prison from the wood of boats used by migrants in the Mediterranean, laden with stories and emotions, who will play for us on 29 November at the performance open to families of our Furioso at the Teatro Donizetti.
There will also be workshops and guided tours with two new additions: one dedicated to love with Opera al bacio and one to masks from around the world and masks as a form of self-expression.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming all teachers on 18 October for a day of intensive training dedicated to various projects, with contributions from them too, to share best practices from their theatre experience.
